yoastyrocked
Bidar is one of the most underrated cities in all of India. The Bahmani Sultanate made it their capital in the 15th century, and what they built there, including the Bidar Fort, the madrasa of Mahmud Gawan, and dozens of royal tombs, is extraordinary. Bijapur, now called Vijayapura, houses the Gol Gumbaz, whose whispering gallery acoustic effect is genuinely stunning. These must-see heritage cities of the Deccan are in Karnataka and Maharashtra and are easily connected by road. Most travelers skip them entirely and drive straight past on the way to Hampi, which is a real shame. Rock-Cut Marvels That Predate the Mughal Empire by Centuries The Deccan's rock-cut tradition goes back much further than the medieval sultanates. Ajanta and Ellora are the obvious highlights, but Badami cave temples in Karnataka, Elephanta Island off Mumbai, and the rock-cut temples at Aihole and Pattadakal all deserve time. These sites were carved between the 4th and 11th centuries and represent Hindu, Buddhist, and Jain traditions all within the same region. The must-see heritage cities of the Deccan are often best understood when you layer the rock-cut older sites with the later sultanate architecture to see how the region evolved over a thousand years. https://www.trustpilot.com/review/globeshipx.com
